This is a concept that we have developed.  It combines several aspects of the passing game with our G/T trapping game.  More and more teams are utilizing their QB in the decision making process of the play.  The reason for this is that it gives your offense  a much better chance of taking advantage of the defense.

The idea is to have two or three options for the QB to choose from when he gets to the LOS.

There are a lot of concepts being used at almost every level of football.  What is unique about the one below is that we have incorporated our G/T QB trap into the play.  We are able to do this because the formation we have chosen allows us to pull two linemen if the QB chooses the (C) Option.

Cyclone Read: This is actually the two pass combinations off the Cyclone Read.  If we call “Cyclone Read” the QB will check the two receiver side first.  (A) If he counts three defenders to that side he will automatically run the (B) OU Smash to the strong side.  If he counts three defenders to that side or the LB is scraping to cover we will call the 155G/T QB counter trap (C).

Cyclone Read: This is Cyclone (C) or 155 G/T.  The QB will pump to the three receiver side just long enough to get the LB to scrape and the pulling O Linemen into position before he tucks and runs.

It may seem a little complex but it really isn't.  This is an easy way for us to take advantage of defensive alignments.  All we have actually done is come to the line with three possible plays.  The QB simply decides what play we will run by counting the defenders.  If he is going to run the (A) or (B) pass plays he does not have to say anything.  If he needs to run the (C) we simply check to it with several easy to remember audibles.  We can also call it in the huddle as well.

Let me know what you think of this concept of if you have any questions.
