The I Formation with a Little Crazy Mixed In For 8man Football

This book was just completed in the Summer of 2006.  It is an extensive 8man football book that covers the I formation from front to back.  Also included is an Up (offset I) formation playbook.

Terminology is explained as well as each play in the playbook section.  Line Blocks are diagramed and named for each play as well as possible options and counters to most plays.

Text Box: 16-17 Loop

bullet This is a great counter option play.  You can see that the blocking scheme between the 3-2 and 4-2 are different.  The rule on Loop blocking is that we Loop a 3-2 (cross block & pull through to the CB) and Base Trap a 4-2.
bullet The QB will fake the Give then reverse out or step out (your choice, we have done both) making room for the pulling G.
bullet Against a 3-2 some teams will make their D end step down with the TE in an attempt to close the trapping lane.  If this happens we teach our Ends to take the D Ends down with them.  Our onside (looping) G will step outside and look for a scrapping LB while the pulling G will continue to the CB.
